About the Role
Hinge is hiring a Senior UX Writer! This role will be pivotal in redefining online dating through and beyond AI innovation. This is a unique opportunity to drive content design across our app's multiple touchpoints, directly shaping user experience during a period of significant growth. Collaborating with a dynamic team of product managers, designers, researchers, and brand specialists, you'll be instrumental in crafting and refining how we communicate with users, both within and outside the app.
As one of the key UX writers, you'll bring your expertise in mobile app writing—particularly in the consumer space—to elevate in-app features, notifications, content standards, and accessibility guidelines. Your work will have a meaningful impact, guiding our users towards finding genuine connections on the app and enriching their journey beyond the app. If you're passionate about using your skills to make a difference in people's lives, Hinge is the place for you.
\n- Address Complex Challenges with Human-Centered Design: Utilize design thinking to solve emotional and complex issues, articulating solutions through brand-aligned language and storytelling.
- Drive and Coordinate Multiple Projects: Execute a variety of product design initiatives, ensuring successful execution through effective cross-functional collaboration with teams including product management, design, operations, research, marketing, and engineering.
- Embody Hinge’s Voice: Develop authentic, courageous, and empathetic digital and product narratives that inspire user action, while maintaining brand consistency across all platforms and touchpoints.
- Translate Complex Concepts into User-friendly Language: Simplify and communicate intricate features and offerings into clear, actionable in-product text for UI elements, educational moments, notifications, and error messages.
- Contribute to Content Guidelines: Create, maintain and evolve in-app content strategies and tone-of-voice guidelines that can be shared cross-functionally.
- Drive Copy Optimization and Innovation: Independently manage tasks, conduct A/B testing copy strategies in partnership with data, product and research teams, and use insights to refine copy strategies and introduce innovative approaches to product experiences.
- Champion Cross-Team Collaboration and Product Innovation: Contribute to strategic initiatives across teams, fostering innovation in product development and enhancing user engagement through thoughtful, insights and data-informed copywriting.
- Proven Experience in Digital Copywriting: 5 or more years crafting compelling copy and content strategies within digital product companies, digital agencies, or tech startups, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in UX writing and storytelling in digital platforms.
- Comprehensive UX and Product Knowledge: A strong understanding of user experience design principles (UX/UI/IA), user research methodologies, and data science, with the ability to translate insights into effective copy strategies.
- Specialization in Mobile Applications: Demonstrated experience in writing for consumer-facing mobile applications, showcasing the ability to engage users through concise and impactful messaging.
- Exceptional Writing and Communication Skills: Outstanding ability in writing clear, persuasive copy and communicating complex ideas effectively, with a keen eye for detail and narrative coherence.
- Knowledge in Conversational AI and LLMs: Desirable experience with conversational AI and large language models, indicating a forward-thinking approach to emerging technologies and user interactions.
- Strategic Content Creation and Evaluation: Expertise in developing content hypotheses for A/B testing, and using user and data-driven insights to refine and optimize content strategies.
- Global Perspective and Inclusivity: Experience designing content for diverse, global audiences, with an understanding of cultural nuances and the ability to adapt messaging accordingly.
- Understanding of UX Strategy and Brand Differentiation: Knowledge of how UX writing supports user experience goals distinct from brand messaging, with the ability to align copy with overarching product strategies.
- Collaboration and Design Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with key design and collaboration tools (e.g., Google Suite, Figma, Notion), and a history of working effectively within multi-disciplinary teams to launch products at scale.
- Leadership in Presentation and Advocacy: Strong presentation skills, with the ability to articulate the rationale behind copy decisions and advocate for content choices that enhance product value and user engagement.
