Overview

Storj is pioneering the world's first decentralized cloud object storage network that provides secure, private, more affordable cloud object storage for developers building applications or storing data in the cloud. Our mission is to enable the decentralized future, and our vision is to be the storage layer for the decentralized internet.

Storj is looking for a Developer Evangelist, who is a devops and cloud infrastructure builder, to create a developer engagement program that drives adoption of our decentralized cloud object storage service. Your background is in building cloud architectures and ensuring the security and privacy of data stored in the cloud; you have experience with large, distributed systems. You will be an advocate for Storj, demonstrating its benefits and open source ethos to developers around the world, with sample code, architectures, demos, virtual/irl speaking engagements. You will be the technical thought leader within our growing 200,000-strong community and to external technical audiences. You love to participate in hackathons, virtual events, webinars, meetups and write technical blogs. You have a strong development background, are hands-on-code to assist our community of developers as they build on top of and migrate applications and data to Storj.

Skills and Attributes

The ideal candidate has a proven track record in successfully managing and creating developer/devops content and an engagement program; you will have experience on ‘both sides of the blog’. You may have been a developer, a devops engineer, or a solutions architect. You live in CLI to work with virtualization, cloud infrastructure, data management tools (databases, big data). You care deeply about privacy and security and can talk about strong encryption and PKI. You have worked with open source tools such as Jenkins, Redash, MinIO. You know cloud storage protocols such as S3. You enjoy digging into cutting edge decentralized and Web3.0 technology, enabling the next generation of DeFi networks, privacy-centric and edge applications. You may also have experience with crypto, ethereum, and other decentralized internet projects. You thrive on engaging with your developer peers and collaborating with them. You’re an evangelist.

Responsibilities

  • Code and build projects that showcase the privacy, security, and other benefits of Storj’s decentralized cloud object storage service.
  • Publish content about Storj’s offerings including technical blogs, guides, documentation, code samples, tutorials, videos, podcasts, etc.
  • Support the product team by helping them understand the needs of developers and devops and how preferences and feedback translate into the user experience.
  • Form relationships with developers both inside and outside of the community, work with them to understand their needs, and advocate for them within the company to show how internal teams at Storj can help them.
  • Present to developers at tradeshows, webinars, and other events both in-person and online.
  • Support developers on our forum with issues they encounter while integrating with Storj.

Qualifications

  • Experience building relationships with developers as an evangelist, advocate, pre/post sales solution architect or other relevant roles.
  • You have a GitHub repo you can share, comfortable with languages and frameworks GO, C, Node JS
  • Advanced and prolific technical writing (send us your blog examples) and public presentation skills (send us a link or two of you presenting) with the ability to influence technical audiences.
  • Ability to work with developers to earn their trust and assist them with projects.
  • Willingness to spend 25-50% of your time traveling (when travel is safe)—both domestic and international—to tradeshows, conferences, and meetups subject to pandemic-related travel restrictions. This includes weekends on occasion.
  • An established—or willingness to establish—professional presence on social media, forums, and other communities of developers .
  • Technology expertise required: You may have been a developer, a devops engineer, or a solutions architect. You live in CLI to work with virtualization, cloud infrastructure, data management tools (databases, big data).
  • Proficiency in strong encryption and PKI protocols. Hands on experience in infrastructure/devops, familiarity with cloud storage protocol such as S3. Experience with open source tools such as jenkins, redash, minIO.
  • Familiarity with S3 ecosystem and tier 1 and tier 2 cloud storage providers (Wasabi, Backblaze, Cloudflare, AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Technology experience nice-to-have: Web3.0 technology, crypto, ethereum, and other decentralized internet projects.
